Laundry Day

Smell of smoke seeps, stays for a week.
penetrates the follicle.

can’t seem to rinse it out of the cuticle.
—hangnails hurt.

Memory doesn’t remember
but body does.
Maybe need nailclippers.

Harbor and Harvest Moon

Light wash of deep cobalt, nothing black
No need to hide, yellow

halo light. Moon dust falls quickly, sediments sink in water.

Swaying: tink—tink—-tink— boats dance drunk off moon shine,
and I watch.

Air Carried Your Care

Trees twist and wind here, stretched small bristles,
to the ground, then into

me: cheek caressed.
Grooves like I traced on hand, dent on finger nail.

Don’t worry mum,
hair laced in bark, they brush the tangles supple.
